National Bourbon Heritage Month 2023
30 Bourbons in 30 Days Challenge
Happy Bourbon Heritage Month! Citizens all over Kentucky have been enjoying Bourbon Festivals in September for decades. In an attempt to take the celebrations national and make them official, back in 2007 Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning introduced a Simple Resolution to the 110th U.S. Congress …
… Now, therefore … the Senate …
(1) designates September 2007 as “National Bourbon Heritage Month”,
(2) recognizes bourbon as “America’s Native Spirit” and reinforces its heritage and tradition and its place in the history of the United States, and
(3) recognizes the contributions of the Commonwealth of Kentucky to the culture of the United States.
— S. Res. 294, 110th Congress¹
RESOLUTION CONFIRMATION
The 110th Congress of the U.S. Senate passed S. Res. 294² by unanimous consent.
Sadly, as a simple resolution, it was not passed into law and as non-binding, the legislation was never renewed. Still, the Commonwealth of Kentucky continues to celebrate Bourbon Heritage Month every September.
But we, who enjoy bourbon regardless of where we live, can join the party. Let’s make September our Bourbon Heritage Month. To motovate, I am issuing our third annual 30 Bourbons in 30 Days WhiskeyfortheAges.com Challenge …

MY WHISKEYfortheAGES.COM LIST
This year I am opening bourbons which have languished in our bunker since bringing them home. So many bourbons, so little time and as such, several are a couple years old. I’ve compiled my 30 Bourbons in 30 Days WhiskeyfortheAges.com Calendar as follows …
All of the bottles in the list (with exception of the Weller 12) will be fresh cracks, and bourbons I have yet to enjoy. I intend to review my pours on the go, which for me will be a tall order. After a solid evening of enjoyable and careful tasting, it often takes me days to upload a new review.
While my daily reviews may not appear on the website right away, I will be sharing thoughts on what I am drinking throughout the month on the various Social Media platforms where I post. It is my hope others can and will join the conversations as well.
So how about it? Care to join in the fun?
Download your own 30 Bourbons in 30 days Challenge Calendar, fill it in and start sharing your bourbon picks today.
