COLONEL EH TAYLOR SMALL BATCH BOURBON REVIEW:

Subtle pleasing sweetness greets as the bottle is opened. EHTSB has an intense, oily, and warming mouth feel. This bourbon sips well at 100 proof. I will need to keep a bottle on the shelf at all times … A new favorite. This can be a difficult bottle to find – If seen on the shelf, buy, Buy, BUY!

ENJOYMENT METHOD:

For the evaluation, I shared the juice neat from Glencairn glasses with my daughter and fellow Whiskey for the Ages reviewer Hannah.

COLONEL EH TAYLOR SMALL BATCH NOSE:

Sweetness fills the air as soon as the bottle is uncorked. When poured, wafts of caramel, brown sugar and oak tempt the nose with what is to come.

COLONEL EH TAYLOR SMALL BATCH PALATE:

After the first sip or two and the taste buds acclimate, dusty grains, with oaky-sweet caramel corn flavours mixed with peppery cinnamon flow into the mouth. A good Kentucky chew opens the liquid to make the spice and sweet dance on the tongue.

Balance, Body, Feel and Look:
This bourbon is well balanced and offers an oily and pleasant mouthfeel. Its light tickle nearly masks an unusual savory but sweet dried fruit-Thanksgiving stuffing aftertaste. In the Glencairn, many long and clinging toothpick sized legs slide down from an irregular reversed crown back into an auburn-polished mahogany pool.

COLONEL EH TAYLOR SMALL BATCH FINISH:

A smooth start leads to a long, lingering finish on the back of the tongue. Oak lingers, then fills the empty Glencairn as the memory of the dram drifts away.

MY COLONEL EH TAYLOR SMALL BATCH RATING: 91/100
